What is Steemit.com?

Steemit.com is a social network like facebook,twitter and instagram with an additional thing which is reward for being social. Yes, I said reward.

Keys

Your keys are what is conventionally called a password. The first rule is do not loose your password

There are about four different types of keys.
They are

1. The main key
2. The private key
3. The active key
4. The posting key

The main key

The main key is more or less like the master my. It is the password which Steemit.com gives you when you are opening your account.
What happens when you loose the main key?
All your funds will be stuck in your wallet,your funds will be transferred within less than 24 hours. And you have to start All over.

Is it possible to recover the main password?
I am afraid you cannot recover it.

The active key.

The active key is like the main key but cam be recovered by using yoir main password.

The posting key

This key is exclusively for posting, upvoting and commenting

The private key

This is your personal key.

2. Steemit cannot recover your main password
3. The main password is the most important.

Setup YOUR PROFILE

after saving your password, the next thing is setting up a profile.

Etiquette

I feel this should be done before the introductory post. There are different things you shouldn't do as a beginner. here are some things you shouldn't do as a newbie:

1. .Do not involve yourself in blind following and mass following
2. Do not say things like upvote me because I have upvoted you.
3. Copy and paste is highly prohibited. If you want to achieve it on steemit avoid plagiarism. The cheetah bot will get you and scare people from upvoting your post
4. Avoid spamming. Do not drop post of your links on other people's post except they are relevant to the subject matter.
5. Reply comments when you have to.
6. Be polite

INTRODUCE YOURSELF POST

this post should be your first post. MOst times this post could be your highest till you get acquainted with the way things go.

Your introduce yourself post should contain the following.

1. Name
2. Country
3. What you intend to contribute to the community
4. Your facebook username
5. Your picture
6. You could also add a video
7. Put adequate tags. For example in introduction, use introduceyourself, introducemyself,introduction and some other tags

How can I upload a picture on my post?
You can upload a picture by clicking on the select them below the box in which the body of your post is. Then select the picture.

What if I forgot to add a picture to my post. How can I upload it?
Go-to postimg.org and repeat the steps I
described above.

How can I add a video to my post?
You can simply do that by sharing a video of yourself on YouTube.com or dtube. Then copy the link of the video and paste it.

STEEMIT VOCABULARY

This section aims at giving the meanings of certain terms used on steemit.
There are some basic terms you need to know

Upvote: This is the same thing as like on facebook. It means you like the post.

Resteem: this basically is similar to retweeting. It means broadcasting someone's post so that your followers can see it.

Curation: refers to people that upvote the post. A person that upvote is called a curator.

Steem: is a cryptocurrency like bitcoin that is used on steemit. It can be used to power up.

Powerup: simply means to increase the worth of your upvote.
Steem dollars.: This is another cryptocurrency that is also paid on steemit.

Minnows: Minnows are basically newbies on steemit that do not have that much reputation and wallet balance.

Dolphin: These are steemian with moderate reputation and a moderate wallet balance. They have put some of their time on steemit.

Whale: whales are people with thousandsof followers and thousands of dollars in their wallets.

Steempower: This refers to how much influence your upvote has on a post It can be said to be the heart of your account.

Tags: Tags are categories where you want your post to appear. Use adequate tags for your post to avoid a message from steemitcleaners.

Witness: these are steemians nominated by the community to run server for twenty four hours of everyday.

Steemian: this is a person who has a steemit account.

COMMENTS

Comments are replies to a post. I only have one thing to tell newbies *if you don't read a post, do not comment.Avoid robotic comments like "nice", "thanks". They make the person feel that you didn't read and you are just there for an upvote.
Another trick: *you can make more money on a comment than your post

Reward system

The reward system refers to the way in which you receive your reward.
The reward attached to a post is divided between the author and the curators. 75% of the post goes to the author(author's reward) and 25% goes to curators.

The 75% is split into steempower and steemdollars. Stemmed dollars is given more than steempower.

REPUTATION

This refers to how much trust youu have gotten in the community . Every one starts on a baseline of 25 and increase based on your contribution to the community. The reputation is based on logarithmic difference. It is the number beside your username.

###Voting power:
Refers to how much percentage your vote is . Every time you vote 100% your voting power goes down by 2%. Every newbie upvotes by 100% till your steempower is worth 500 and above.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY STEEM DOLLAR OR STEEM TO FIAT CURRENCY?

You can do this by sending your fund to either @poloniex, @bittrrex, @blocktrades. They are capable to convert Steem/Steem dollars to bitcoin. The bitcoin can then be converted to FIAT CURRENCY.
