Minnowbooster News: Introducing 5 Day Upvote Submission Limit
Minnowbooster aims to provide a service that benefits both our customers and the Steem ecosystem as a whole. In an effort to eliminate the misuse of the upvote buying service offered by Minnowbooster, voting service submission rules have now been changed.
We are currently aware that some users have been 'gaming' the system by purchasing votes for their posts as close as possible to to the 6.5 day voting limit. They are doing this in order to receive a significant payout on posts which contain little effort. This last minute vote buying is also used to avoid having their low quality or copyright infringed posts noticed and flagged.
Minnowbooster is changing the maximum post age limit for upvote bot purchases to five days. This will allow users plenty of time to purchase a Minnowbooster vote after publishing their post, while still giving the community time to downvote (or flag) the promoted post if found to be unsuitable for the rewards it received. Minnowbooster will not support authors who post low quality content or posts which amount to plagiarism or "copy-pasta" type content.
This change is the latest in Minnowbooster's efforts to curtail the use of our voting service by those who would attempt to take advantage of the system for undeserved gain.
Please refer to our post defining abuse cases for details on additional steps we are taking to protect the reward pool from abuse. Minnowbooster has always reserved the right to refuse service to any users deemed to be non-compliant with our service policies.
Payments sent to the system for posts older than the new five day limit will be returned to the sender, and no vote will be issued.

That's a great precaution! It will indeed help users with their payout but also the chance for others to downvote it. This is quite a good improvement. 5 Days is plenty enough!
I do have an other question regarding renewing leases. If I login at your website and click renew lease. Will the owner still have to verify it or is it automatic? And If I renew 2 days before the lease expires, will I lose the 2 days or will it continue after the 2 days? :)
It is automatic, the owner can undelegate all the time and you will get a refund for the time remaining.
And the 2 days are added, all else would be pretty unfair ;)

I wish I had known this in December. I let a very good lease go. Nobody wants to fill my newer requests because of the ROI I think and I do not want to over spend o a lease. Confused. But the current one will be renewed by me of course!

While I welcome that changes a lot I would welcome it even more to push it further.
Are people with that new rule still at risk to get flagged by grumpy cat?
I fully agree that 3.5 days post age limit (GrumpyCompliance) or less would be much better (and other vote-sellers have already implemented it), as it would give the community better possibilities to find and evaluate posts upvoted by @minnowbooster (and all those other shady accounts like @peaceandlove whose votes they are selling). The 5 day limit can be a first step to mitigate the worst cases of abuse (and I heard they want to implement some further measures), but I think this service still deserves some @grumpycat attention. For post promotion 1 (or maybe 2) days would be sufficient. In many cases votes are bought purely for profit and not to promote the post.
grumpy cat deliberately did not say anything about minnowbooster and to my knowledge did not act on our customers yet. We want to go to 5 days first, see how it behaves. I personally don't think 3.5 days as an arbitrary number is any better than 5 days or 1 day, so we will base our decision on data, not 'rules'. There are genuine uses for votes at 4 days and we don't want to lock them out.
These changes are certainly welcomed. Steemians have to realize that it's not about themselves but also about the ecosystem. Anything that they're doing to benefit themselves short term at the expense of the ecosystem will damage them in the long run.

hi @minnowbooster i just send a renew lease request but i'm not received any confirmation about that...what can i do?? please check the screen shoot...help me out i need to renew the lease within 1hour either the lease expried...
@minnowbooster Could you please tell me why my 2 SP delegations are expired before the time and if so, why i'm not getting my steem back??
Is this change made in response to @grumpycat's actions against some vote sellers bots?
This change was made after I complained on the steemitabuse chat channel - it was very easy to find about $1000 @minnowbooster abuse per day upvoted shortly before payout, and often it was too late to retract the votes.
Congrats forgiving help cleaning this place, it is really some good thing for the community what you have done. Abusing voting bots to make a sort of ROI is simply wrong, because this way some users take money from the reward pool, which could be used to pay good posts which bring value to the platform.
We were given a couple of smart thoughts to battle manhandle by group individuals like f.e. @bloom, so we have more things arranged. All recommendations and additionally reports of manhandle are welcome, so come visit us up in disunity

As a frequent user of Minnowbooster I agree with the new changes. We should do everything we can to prevent anyone from cheating the system. Minnowbooster is one of the most popular upvote bot in the community and I'm sure there have been people who frequently abuses it. Thanks for informing us of the new changes.
