No heating bill while banking BTC? Gaming PC to Nicehash miner

in #mining7 years ago (edited)

Wow. I converted my gaming PC into a Nicehash miner and it's keeping my apartment the perfect temperature! Not only is my heat still off in October so my power bill is much lower, but I'm generating sweet BTC to boot. Man, what a triumph!

Just click on the link above, create an account, download the software and run it. Input your BTC address, then run a benchmark, but check the box to start mining once finished. If any tests fail, try running in aggressive benchmarking mode. Then use MSI Afterburner to overclock your cards for maximum benefit. After you earn .01 BTC it's sent to your address!

Thank you for reading and I hope this helps someone and inspires someone else to get started mining. Let's discuss how you are using your technology to make your lifestyle better in the comments below! Share the love to someone new and unexpected today.

I plan on doing this same thing in my laundry room for the winter.
Why run a space heater? Does it return any value besides heat? No.
Running a computer that mines a coin or even having a few wallets staking coins on a desktop will use the same electricity as a heater. Thus a return will be realized on the same electric usage. Brilliant!

What has your experience using nicehash? Been looking for sometime now.
How are you using the service?

This is the best part! You simply download their software and it determines the best mining software to use for the specific desired currency for profitability at the time. It takes care of everything on the fly behind the scenes now that the miner is configured properly- although a bit of Windows configuration was necessary for optimal results. I just set it and forget it now.

That is a great feature, and its pays out in btc right?
Have you rented or rented out at all? I like the idea of renting machines.
You could get paid up front to run a system part time, then have it working for yourself the remaining time.
Or rent a dozen or so at once to powermine the newer coins.

It does pay out in BTC but only thing I'd mention is to have Nicehash point your earnings towards your own address to avoid their transaction fees for using their BTC wallet. I haven't tried renting but I love the idea of mining the new coins now. One of my favorites is Sia coin!

How much bitcoin does it earn per month?

This modest miner generates about .001 BTC every month. It has a R9 290 AMD Radeon GPU and an i5 2500k processor and both are being utilized, although the GPU generates 5.5x more revenue.

Might seem small now but when btc is counted in tens of thousands that .001 btc will be something.
I mined btc on a browser years ago and scoffed at the 0.10 btc I amassed.
That small act of pointing a few browsers to a webpage in my spare time is now worth over $400!

UPDATE: I added a NVIDIA GTX 760 GPU that was in my closet- a friend had gifted me that from an old PC he didn't care about- and I gained another 22% gain as well as more heat generation that will come in handy as the winter progresses. One mans' trash...
