New miningrig build

in #mining7 years ago

This a post about my recent build. It is a miningrig with three Nvidia GTX 1080's and two AMD RX 570's. As operation system, I used Windows 10 installed on a SSD because I don't know much about ubuntu and its drivers. I am also going to talk about the coins I am mining and why I mine them.

The base components

For this build I didn't needed a powerful CPU so I chose an Intel pentium G4400. It has 2 cores, 2 threads and runs at 3.3 Ghz coreclock. Because the CPU doesn't have to do a lot of work, the stock cooler is used.

For the motherboard I bought a Gigabyte H110 D3A, firstly because a mining-BIOS can be installed and secondly because in the future I only want to run 6 GTX 1080 as maximum number of GPU's. The motherboard has extra power input connectors but I didn't connect them and everything works fine without them. On the motherboard there is 4GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM installed.

Currently I am using 2 power supplies because I already had a CX650M (mentioned in a previous blog post). As I learned some more things about mining, I figured out that the efficiency of the power supply is a important factor to think about when you buy one. My second power supply I bought is a HX850 from Corsair with 80 PLUS Platinum certification.IMG_1776.jpg

GPU's

For the build there are 2 different graphic cards manufacturers used. Two AMD ones and three Nvidia cards. In the future I'm going to flash the bios of the RX 570's to get more performance out of the cards. Currently I'm mining Zclassic with all the cards. The GTX 1080's are more efficient than the RX 570's are in the equihash algorithm. For the AMD RX 570's, I chose for the Gigabyte Aorus ones.IMG_1778.jpg

For the GTX 1080's I bought 2 different types from Gigabyte. The first picture is an Aorus card and the second picture is the Gigabyte G1, I have two of these cards.IMG_1780.jpg

Mining performance

Currently I am mining Zclassic on suprnova. Why I mine Zclassic will be explained in the next paragraph. With the 3 GTX 1080's I get about around 1550 Sols/s. The RX 570's are hashing at 580 Sols/s. In total I deliver a hashrate of 2130 Sols/s to the pool. Currently the rig earns around 0.14 Zclassic a day. When Zclassic hits the price of 200$, the ROI of my investment is around 200 days. Following pictures are from the completed rig.

Why I choose to mine Zclassic

Zclassic had a big price jump recently because it announced it is going to fork with bitcoin. Bitcoin-private will be the coin that is created with this fork. The fork date isn't announced yet but people think the fork will take place at the end of january but I think the fork will be in february or march. Until the forkdate, Zclassic is likely to grow in marketcap and also in price. After the fork of Zclassic I am possibly going to mine Zcash with the GTX 1080's and Ethereum or Electroneum with my RX 570's. Nice man looks realy good.

thanks, I learned a lot building this rig myself. It is totally worth it to try it yourself! :D
