Mining specific GPU sku's, quite possibly the only thing I've ever seen AMD and Nvidia Fanboys agree on...steemCreated with Sketch.

With the crypto mining craze currently in full swing and not an RX470/480 or RX570/580 to be found south of a price 200% of what it was a month or so ago, gamers are pissed.  I guess it's kind of to be expected to be honest but with both Nvidia and AMD announcing mining specific "parts"(sry but I happen to consider a "GPU" to have video ports) who among you think it's going to solve the problems...?  Perhaps I am alone in saying this but I don't see this as being a very well thought out solution.  The cards, at least the Nvidia ones that have been released are based on the GTX 1060 and the GTX 1080, the lower end part using the 1060 seems an obvious low cost solution, only problem is it's not low cost.  Instead of coming in at around $200 like was mentioned when it was first teased, the price for parts that have been delivered to some are north of $400 per piece.  Try to remember this is for a card which we might as well call an ASIC-lite, it has limited warranty(I've seen some listed with a 1yr but most are in the 90 day to 180 day range) much like ASIC's for Sha256 and Scrypt.  Did I mention it's got no video ports which negates any resale value above scrap...?  I think this is a short sighted approach from the chip makers, if they expect people to pay more for a product with less warranty and less usability than we would pay for a normal GPU.  Granted we have a global shortage, this is temporary, I'm sure some people will be willing to shell out serious $$$ for the new cards, especially those on the FOMO(Fear Of Missing Out) train.  Granted large Cloud mining companies like Genesis-Mining will prob get bulk pricing cheap enough for it to be worthwhile for them to make the leap, how about you...?  Given the limitations with the new parts, how popular do you think they will be with hobby/mid sized miners...?  I'd appreciate your comments, especially those within the mining community such as  @bitsbetrippin  @cryptomind  @blockops  @imineblocks

I'd like to thank Cryptomind from the zcash forums for allowing me to use his photos, real photos that aren't photoshopped are still difficult to get.
