Monero will carry out an update directed against ASIC-miners on April 6

After the Chinese manufacturer of ASIC-miners Bitmain, following the company Baikal announced the release of ASIC-miners working on the algorithm CryptoNight, which are able to produce including Monero, the creators of this crypto currency informed about the upcoming update, after which the efficiency of mining Monero on such ASIC-miners  will be greatly reduced.  The main developer of Monero Ricardo Spagny presented detailed information on the planned changes in the hashing algorithm on Github.  According to the information presented on the site, the update of the client version 0.12.0 called Lithium Luna is scheduled for April 6.  This update contains "small changes" in the crypto currency extraction algorithm, which will be directed primarily against ASIC-miners.  The intention to change the algorithm and thereby prevent the centralization of mining team Monero developers warned in February.  In March, after Bitmain introduced the Antminer X3, Spagny himself stated this.  "Recently announced ASIC-miners due to significant performance advantages over general-purpose equipment such as CPU, GPU and even FPGA, will receive a significant part of the network hashes, which will make it centralized," - a recent statement by a representative of the Monero development team.
