How to mine cryptocurrency for free with Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine ( VPS ).

Today I will show you how to start mine cryptocurrency using free account on Microsoft Azure platform.

First you need to create free account on Azure website.

This will give you free account for 1 year and extra 170 euro so you can spend it on site and try what they have offer to you. We will use that money to create Virtual Machine. What is important, when you spent all 170 euro, created virtual machine will stop work and no further ( real ) money will be taken from your account. We use free Trial Plan.

When you create and activate account you will see this panel. Rignt now we will create Virtual Machine with Ubuntu Server.
( It's in polsih language, but I will show what you need to click )

Step 1, 2 and 3 is simple.

Remember your account name and password, you will need this later.

Now we can pick scpecification of our hardware. We should pick 4 cores (max for trial account) and search for cheapest option with 4 cores. I suggest pick A3 plan. It has 4 cores and is cheap. Our virtual machine will work for almost 1.5 month until 170 euro ends.

Next.

We need to set unique name for Diagnostic Storage Account. After that click OK and you should be in Step 4.

Here you see summary and can confirm everything.

Virtual Machine with Ubuntu start to create. It will take a while. Now wi need tool to comunicate with that Ubuntu and start some miner.

First you need to download and install on your PC PuTTy, a SSH client software that can comunicate with your Ubuntu in Virtual Machine.

Ok, lets get back to Azure dashboard. Virtual Machine is set up and running.

Copy your IP number that I show on picture. Run PuTTy and paste that IP number then click Open.

First time you will see window bellow, click Yes.

Now you can type your username and password. Those with !!! IMPORTANT !!! note on pictures. Password don't show when you type it, it's normal. Accept ant you will see welcome screen.

Now you can install any linux based miner but for this tutorial we will use MinerGate. I assume you can now create free account on MinerGate site by yourself or use my refferal link if you wish. That will be nice.

Ok, so we have account on minergate, lets start install aou miner software.

First type in "sudo apt-get update" ( without quotes marks ) and press enter key.

Next "wget https://minergate.com/download/deb-cli" and Enter.

After that "mv deb-cli minergate-cli-release.deb" and Enter.

Now "sudo apt install gdebi" and Enter. When question will show up on screen, type Y and press Enter. This will take some time.

And now "sudo gdebi minergate-cli-release.deb" this will install MinerGate Client. Again type Y and press Enter.

Now we can mine using our account on minergate.com
To start mine some money type:

"minergate-cli -user [email protected] -mcn" and press Enter.

Wher [email protected] is your minergate account email that you use for registration.
-mcn is cryptocurrency you will mine. You can pick other than me like Monero (xmr) or Bitcoin (btc) or Litecoin (ltc) or any other supported by minergate.

After type correct email and currency you will see blue text that will give you some information about mining.
( I mine here Moneta Verde that have -mcn shortcut )

But right now when you close PuTTy window, miner will stop work. We need to type "nohup" before minergate-cli so miner can work even when we close PuTTy. So right now if you run your miner and see all this blue text press CTRL+C to stop miner.

Now type "nohup minergate-cli -user [email protected] -mcn" and press Enter.

If you see text "nohup: ignoring input and appending output to 'nohup.out'" everything is set up.

You can close PuTTy and Virtual Machine will mine your cryptocurrency 24/7 for about 1,5 month until that free 170 euro disapear and Virtual Machine stop work.
