"Success may be a daily habit"

What have you ever done today to maneuver you closer to your dreams? Are you expecting to awaken one morning and suddenly do everything to realize your dream in only that one day?

Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do.” Success may be a daily habit. It’s the small belongings you do everyday which will get you to your destination.
Time management skill - cultivate a habit of reading
A friend and motivational speaker, Felix Banda, told me last week how he remembers me reading a book called “how to become a millionaire” once I was at the University of Zambia in my first or second year of studies. That was over 10 years ago.

He acknowledged that it's going to seem to some, that I suddenly got up at some point and decided to start out writing these articles, but he realized that it started all the way back there. His point was that it's been a process and not a sudden occurrence.

I had actually forgotten about having read that and similar books, but when he mentioned it, I remembered how the literature I read has had such an impression on me and has affected my life during a positive way. a number of the principles I learnt rubbed off on me so well they became a neighborhood of my thoughts to such some extent that i ultimately accepted those thoughts as my very own .

It is the habit of reading that has contributed to a change in my thinking. Had I not started reading those books then, i might still be stuck in whatever thought pattern I had. My horizons would still be restricted.

Put first things first

Stephen Covey, in his inspiring and life changing book “the 7 habits of highly effective people” asks the question: “what one thing could you are doing (you aren't doing now) that if you probably did on a daily basis, would make an incredible positive difference in your personal life?”

It doesn't need to be an enormous thing. Neither does it need to be something that needs an enormous investment of your time , energy or resources on your part. It just has got to be something that you simply can do consistently.

You will discover that you simply will eventually be doing more of that one thing than you'll have thought possible once you started. Over time, it'll make an enormous difference. Stephen Covey further adds that “it’s usually not the dramatic, the visible, the once-in-a-lifetime, up-by-the-bootstraps effort that brings enduring success. Empowerment comes from learning the way to use this great endowment within the decisions we make everyday.”

He called this habit “putting first things first.” i prefer that name because often we don't put first things first. We put things which matter most at the mercy of things which matter least.

We subordinate our dreams for our jobs, our bosses, our friends, our parents and an entire lot of people and activities. we should always instead place our hopes and dreams because the most vital thing everyday.

The time management matrix

One guide which will assist you decide whether something should take up some time or not is that the time management matrix. during this matrix, which can be drawn as a quadrant, there are basically four groups of activities. There are those things that are urgent and not important; people who are urgent and important; people who aren't urgent and not important and people that aren't urgent and important.

Most people spend their time doing things that are neither urgent nor important. One thing that immediately involves mind is that the person who spends equally of his free time at the bar hanging out with the blokes and just having an honest time. i might not be very mistaken to mention that such an individual isn't only drinking their income away, but also their dreams.

Television is another not urgent and not important activity which, unfortunately, most folks spend tons of our most efficient time on. it's amazing how television sets in most homes are perpetually on and other people are fixed on them like zombies, watching everything that's dished bent them! TVs have invaded our lives and crippled our dreams.

Do the important things

What we'd like to try to to is consider the items that are most vital . The hard part is that these are usually the items that aren't urgent. Yet they're things which will make the most important difference to our lives.

Why not close up the tv set tonight and skim an inspiring book? Why not take a quiet moment to take a seat down and write down what you would like to try to to with the remainder of your life? Why not spend a while together with your kids instead of with the blokes at the bar? Why not take a couple of minutes to read the Bible today?

It ain't always fun

As you'll see, the important things are usually not the foremost fun or exciting things to try to to . However, they need to be done. there's a price to be purchased attaining greatness and sometimes meaning doing things we don’t necessarily enjoy or want to try to to .

But you want to do those things because you realize that your future depends thereon . believe this: if you simply had to try to to the items that are fun and exciting at work would you get anything done? No. But you are doing it anyway, for the sake of that paycheck at the month-end. Why then, won’t you are doing the items that matter most for your own life?

Conclusion

If you've got not done anything today to urge you closer to your dreams you're not a dreamer, you're a wisher. awaken and do something about it or watch the dreamers take hold of their dreams, one little step every day .

In the words of Jim Rohn, “Motivation is what gets you started. Habits is what keeps you going,” Develop the habit of putting first things first today. Work on your dreams each and each day.
