I've never done meditation myself, however I like to practice some breathing techniques and results most likely are quite similar.
And I must admit, that I'm always seeking that feeling of "euforia" whenever your brain is hit with fresh oxygen and hyper-ventilated.
If we are aware of them and meditate to experience them, we do not advance.
