Middle East - Iran - Mercedes Benz - Turkey - Gazprom - Davos
What is going on in the middle east? Is this region in danger of a war from Syria's north border down to the south coast of Yemen between Sunni Islam countries in alliance with Israel against Shiites? What part will play western countries including Turkey and Russia & China in that potential conflict. Let's have a quick look into international newspapers from around the world:
Iran and Italy signed a credit agreement to fund investments worth up to 5 billion euros in Iran. (https://nyti.ms/2G17kpi)
The Iranian car manufacturing company Iran Khodro and the German Daimler concern signed an agreement on the start of production of Mercedes-Benz cars in Iran from the Islamic new year (late March), the ISNA news agency reported on Friday. (https://sptnkne.ws/g5Nx)
Ankara has just approved the second pipe on the Turkish Stream pipeline from Gazprom through territorial waters of Turkey (only German https://sptnkne.ws/g5Rq)
Israel is planning a railway connection with Saudi Arabia (https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180116-israel-plans-for-railway-connecting-it-with-saudi-arabia/)
Iran sells the oil the India if western countries don't like it. (https://www.reuters.com/article/iran-oil-exports/indias-imports-of-iran-oil-in-dec-scheduled-to-rise-to-most-since-march-source-idUSL3N1PA2AG)
Iran steadily reaches its goal of luring foreign investment https://www.azernews.az/region/125492.html
Looking at just a view pieces from newspapers awakens faith in me that we should focus more on discussions in Davos instead on UN-Security Council sittings. As long as it is about money everybody can work with each other, if real problems occur the different parties need third party players from western countries, Russia, China etc.to handle the deal or to make sure money and goods can be exchanged between sworn enemies without having their signatures on the same piece of paper. Let's hope that keeping the parties busy with business keeps them away from thinking about war.
