Social Media: Helpful or Hindrance to the career?

Hi everyone,

We certainly keep our focus on each and every word of our biodata applying for a job, but, except all of these, nowadays..we should also to keep focus on our social media image.

All the content posted on platform like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. efficiently tells your mood, hobbies and creativeness. Hence, there are many companies who select you on the basis of your social media image, not only on the basis of biodata.

Hence we should keep in mind of our social media image also.

Here are some tips to regarding the above content-

Select good pictures- The first thing that is being noticed is Profile Picture and Cover picture. It is not essential to get a picture clicked by professional photographer, yet a good & classy picture fulfill this requirement.

Don't share unnecessary post- Post based on caste, religion, gender, or bad comments create a negative image regarding you profile. A survey conducted by Carrerbuilder.com reveals that about 32% people lost their jobs due to creating and sharing negative posts in the year 2017.

Keep focus on old posts- Now a day, friends or relatives upload certain bad pic of yours just making fun of you. Most of the people upload any pic in their new account. These posts can be kept in archive . You can change your post privacy setting to “Only me”.

Look Professional- Almost every social media platform have option to write your bio in the profile. Do write about work experience and education instead of writing your hobbies. Provide full details of your knowledge, skills & work experience in LinkedIn account. Use genuine Email-Id and names only. ·

Post content based on your wok- Do post and share your views based on type of work you are doing. It enables the recruiters to judge your knowledge regarding your work and skills. You can even follow groups and pages related with your work in Facebook & Twitter.

Highlight your work- No company have interest on your schooling and college life. Company expects only work from you, hence you should highlight your achievements and work skills. Do not share wrong information about your academics.
