What Is A.I Artificial Intelligence how is useful for us

Artificial intelligence, a heavy mettlesome term coined in 1956 by a group of hothouse researchers has seeped too deep in our daily life.

From watching driverless cars in jurrasic park to Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S we have fantasized a lot about magical ways of doing work. But the question lies about how far can we extend the boundaries of a machine that harness its work capability with the algorithm it has been programmed in its memory. Can we out pass the typical human brain, the one whose intelligence is measured with a standard reference to Einstein’s I.Q.

Recently Google’s A.I department accredited with the name Deep mind developed an A.I named Alphago zero that defeated the champion of a traditional Chinese game Go. The team took this as a galactic victory and a baby step towards a magnanimous future of Artificial intelligence. The board game ‘go’ was chosen because of its intuitiveness and is galaxies apart when compared to games like chess which are totally logic based.

The best example of A.I is the Facebook’s facial recognition system that automatically tags people in photographs. Recently facebook said that it is using cult images from publicly available hashtags on instagram to train its Artificial Intelligence. This approach was supported and hailed by saying that this effort of training could be used to scrap its platform off from terrorist propaganda, nudity, violence, fake news and spams.

Even Medical Science isn’t spared by the shadow of Artificial intelligence. The first step of data management (previous records and information) is most widely application providing a fast and more consistent access. analyzing tests, X-rays, CT scans and other mundane tasks can be easily curated by robots. Virtual nurses are being installed in the hospitals to help monitor patient’s condition and follow up with treatment between doctor’s visit. Application like Babylon use A.I to give medical consultations in UK based on personal medical history. But the weight cannot be balanced by just counting the advantages on fingertips.

A lot of pessimistic arguments have been displayed by an elite class of people like the billionaire techie Elon Musk who already has his own reservations on A.I and has said that A.I’s are more dangerous than North Korea. The comparison to a nuclear state did sound a bit flabbergasting to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg
as he shrugged this opinion of Space X founder as pretty irresponsible. Various A.I veterans have spoken on the role of A.I in possible future. One of them being the fear of creating a Terminator situation in real life. As the machines
advance they are likely to replace the manpower and thus would generate more unemployment. Even if the machines are capable in self learning but we do need to address about the experiences that make us humans like falling in love, jealousy, happiness, writing and understanding poetry. Would these machines understand feelings or they are simply good enough to achieve a particular task.

We need to define limits of these Artificial minds or else we would be creating an inevitable apocalypse.
