Sachin Tendulkar and Middlesex Cricket join hands to launch academy
Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday announced association with Middlesex Cricket to launch Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy(TMGA). The academy will provide young girls and boys between the age of 9 to 14 an opportunity to learn cricket skills from master blaster and Middlesex Academy.
TMGA, a joint venture between SRT Sports Management Ltd and Middlesex cricket will begun by launching its first camp at Merchent Taylor School in Northwood from aug 6-9 , followed by others locations in Mumbai and London.
Middlesex Cricket has produced players such as Andrew Straus ,Mike Gatting, Denis Compton, John Emburey and Mike Brearley.
The programme will be a joint undertaking between the county and SRT Sports Management Ltd and will include a number of cricket camps. There are also 100 scholarships available for talented underprivileged children.
"I am delighted to be partnering with Middlesex Cricket on this new venture," Tendulkar, who retired in 2013 with more than 34,000 international runs to his name, said in a statement.
"The objective is not only to produce good cricketers but also good global citizens of the future."
