The next great Volvo is here - the new XC60
Being a Volvo, the XC60 will be available with latest in safety technology including Oncoming Lane Mitigation that helps drivers steer out of trouble, City Safety crash prevention system, and semi-autonomous Pilot Assist technology.
The XC60 also receives Volvo's stylish new interior design theme that's shared with the XC90 and S90 models featuring a massive vertical touchscreen infotainment system.
Official pricing is not yet available for the new XC60, which goes into production in April at the company's Torslanda Plant in Sweden
The new XC60 is based on the same, Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform as the XC90 and also borrows design elements and a lot of features from its elder sibling. It features new LED headlamps and redesigned 'Thor's Hammer' LED DRLs that extend up to the grille. On the rear end, it has the Volvo's signature L-shaped tail-light cluster with LED lights. Step inside and you'll see a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the centre console. It also features a four-zone climate control system and has aircon controls for the rear passengers too. Initially, it'll be imported as CBUs and will be later assembled at its Bengaluru facility. It is expected to be priced around the Rs 60 lakh mark and will compete with the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Lexus NX.
Then there's the 9.0-inch centre touchscreen which has been slightly tweaked for better usability. You also get a 12.3-inch TFT driver's display which adds to the look and feel of the cabin. Considering that Volvo will be bringing in just the Inscription (top-of-the-line) variant to India, there are all the bells and whistles that makes it quite the feature-packed car. It gets cooled/ heated front seats with a massage function, which are in fact a segment first offering; there's head-up display too and a panoramic sunroof. Even the 15 speaker Bower and Wilkins sound system is a treat for the ears. Then, there are driver assist features as well like 360-degree camera, semi-automatic parking, blind-spot assist and lane departure warning. In fact, the Volvo XC60 will also feature radar-based safety features like adaptive cruise control which works pretty well and we found out.
wow, volvo finally did something about the horrible interior design. not bad
