Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on 17 September 1950 in independent India. He is an Indian politician who is 14th and current prime minister of India, in office since may 2014. He was chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Hindu nationalist and member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Modi helped his father sell tea as a child and later ran his own stall. He was introduced to RSS at age of eight and became a full-time RSS worker in 1971. He was assigned to BJP in 1985.

Modi was appointed as CM of Gujarat in 2001. His administrator was criticised for 2002 Gujarat riots, although the court found no evidence to prosecute Modi. He was praised for economic growth and policies as CM of Gujarat.
