A Doctor's dilemma

Dr. Arvind Kumar Upadhyay is what his name read. He was a thorough professional, a surgeon by profession. He had been involved in more than 800+ operations in his lifetime. But, as a doctor is always said to be a practitioner, he always considered himself to be one. Not even an iota of pride that he was amongst the best cardiothoracic surgeons of the nation, having operated on some of the biggest names of the country.
But, today he was feeling short of breath, his knees seemed weak, and it seemed he would faint anytime. He would have never imagined that a day like this could come when he would not be able to perform what he had been doing all his life. Sweat on his forehead and eyes getting teary, tears trickling down his face, he was barely able to see beyond his spectacles. He gave up when he felt that he could not do justice to his role and called his friend Dr. Lalit, who was his colleague but quite junior to him in terms of experience, who worked at the same hospital.
His colleague was surprised to know that he needed assistance in something he was a wizard at. He came rushing into the Operation Theatre to see a bare-bodied young lad in front of him, with his chest properly dissected. He did not have a look at the face, but seeing Dr. Arvind in such a situation, he felt the urge to look at him. He was astonished to look at the boy because he knew him quite well.
Anant Kumar, a young boy just 22 years of age, who was going to be a neurosurgeon, following into his father's footsteps, was an ideal son for any parent. He was Dr. Arvind's only son, and something Dr. Arvind was very proud of. He was just like the son every parent wished to have - obedient, hardworking and intelligent. Dr. Lalit requested Dr. Arvind to wait outside as his impatience and situation were not ideal for the operation. But, Dr. Arviwnd could not let the opportunity of being with his son in his last moments go. He knew that Anant was brought brain-dead, and as the family had opted for organ donation, his heart could be donated to another boy who was in dire need of it.
The other boy, Aman, who needed the transplant was a complete contrast of what Anant was, a drug addict by the age of fourteen, who had to be rehabilitated. By, the age of seventeen he had become an alcoholic and was everything his affluent parents wished he was not. But, when he was getting treated under Dr. Arvind for his heart ailments, Dr. Arvind's advice and purity of thought had a huge influence on him.For the first time in life, he planned to quit all his vices, and start afresh. His parents were affluent and could afford the heart transplant and had been looking for a donor, but finding such donors is very rare.Dr. Arvind was pretty sure that he would find a donor one day, as he had transformed.
After Dr. Lalit had performed the dissection and Anant's hearts and lungs were tested (sometimes a single lung or both lungs are also transplanted along with the heart) , Dr. Arvind came into action. It was until now that he could not gather courage but once the transplant was going to happen, some divine intervention took place and Dr. Arvind was back into action. His urgency and control over the operation were quite visible. He did not want to lose the precious organs his son had left behind. He wanted to perform this operation for his son. The opeartion went fine and Aman had been gifted another life.
Aman's parents and Aman himself were shocked to know that it was Dr. Arvind's son who saved his life. Anant met with a terrible accident, and since the entire family had opted for organ donation, his heart gave Aman life. Dr. Arvind though broken by his son's loss was very proud of the fact that the family had taken such a decision. For him, Anant was not dead. HIs act of kindness even after death had made him immortal.
