What a fantastic experience was Mexico !!! I read a lot about the place before departure to gain some general info because I am in 5 month of the pregnancy and I needed to know about hygiene like for example about water. I found out that tap water isn’t drinkable so in that case I realise that all the fruits, vegetables are wash in this water which can become a problem for your stomach. To not have any problem I decided to take some tablets which help restore the natural balance of bacteria in my gut. I have been taking pils one week before the departure which I carried on taking over there for other 2 weeks. Then my worry was a virus called: “Zika”. The virus which has been confirmed in Mexico in 2014 and can spend through mosquito bites or sex. A pregnant woman can pass Zika virus to the fetus and can cause serious birth defects. I bought a jungle repellent with 4% deet which on the end I brought new back with me. In Mexico City it is too high for mosquitos and in Acapulco I didn’t find no one to put repellent !

#cathedralemetropolitana

I stayed first 4 days in the capital where wasn’t that hot I respected will be. I arrived on 11 February when is a winter for Mexican but thermometer showed 24˚C. Mexico City was initially built over a lake ‘Lago de Texcoco’ where Aztecs built an artificial island by dumping soil into lagoon. Walking through the city you can easily notice sinking building like the Metropolitan Cathedral in the center. The city is also at an altitude 2.250 m that you can feel while you walk around. I definitely didn’t feel like to run around the city also because the place is very polluted. Capital is very busy place: traffic everywhere fill with cars, trucks, buses and taxies mainly not much bikers or bicycles. The petrol is cheap but even cheaper is to use metro. Fast and even cheapest public transportation is metro. The cost of an individual ticket is one of the lowest in the world. You pay only 5 pesos for a trip and you can change for any lines you need as soon you stay underground where the city life happens. There are shops, art exhibition, food stands or education billboards in underground long corridors and plenty of stairs. Tickets you can buy at the entry of every subway but some of them are very crowded with very long queues. There are turnstiles right at the entrance, where you insert the ticket only once. It os easy to navigate and you never have to wait long for the next train but it tends to get very crowed. It is definitely the unforgettable experience that I recommend to everyone.
