Now that have been here, I just CAN'T see HOW BAD Mexico is said to be!
I must admit, when we first crossed the border, I was nervous from all the hype America had to say about how UNSAFE Mexico is.
Though, now that we are down here, the nervousness has subsided completely and we are more relaxed than when in The States!
Jesus Christ is the Way...Peace
For one BIG reason, portraits of Jesus Christ and Mary are EVERYWHERE!
This wall art (below) is of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The painting appeared on a specific cloth after Mary appeared to a local and asked for a church to be built. He presented the intention to a priest and Mary gave this cloth wrapped around roses (indigenous to Spain) to the priest who was a Rose lover. After giving the roses, the cloth miraculously had a picture of her on it that scientists cannot recognize the paint.
EVERY person who walks past a church does the Sign Of The Cross showing their reverence.
And we are in a tiny town of 6,000 and there are two churches within minutes of walking distance here.
There are small and large SHRINES EVERYWHERE! (Even way out in the middle of nowhere!)
Let's face it, 90% of the people here are Catholics and Mexico has had its fair share of Miracles, so there are a lot of faithful people practicing!
We are staying at a gorgeous little hotel and they had ALL! of these statues around their gardens and walls!
In conclusion, with the constant reminder of Jesus Christ and his Mother Mary ALL OVER TOWN, it's mind blowing to think these faithful people could be very HARMFUL to others.
In fact, it's been the opposite since we have arrived here.
People always greeting us GENUINELY.
People giving us food!
There is a LOWER sense of stress.
Therefore, the people are A LOT happier!
Here is the town's stage at their local Plaza! It's Saint Mark on the mural!
