In Ukraine, for the first time at the state level celebrate Christmas December 25. The severance of civilizational ties with Russia

KYIV, December 25th. / TASS /. Christmas for the Gregorian calendar is celebrated for the first time at the state level in Ukraine, on December 25 it was declared an official holiday in the country. The corresponding law was adopted by the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada and entered into force on December 3. At the same time Christmas January 7, according to the Julian calendar, also remains a state holiday. The current Ukrainian government motivates the adoption of the law by the need to strengthen the country's European integration positions, and to ensure the rights of Catholics and Protestant denominations.

The severance of civilizational ties with Russia

Many Ukrainians see purely political motives of this law and an attempt to push back to the background a common Orthodox tradition for the two peoples. "This is an attempt to create a civilizational and humanitarian barrier between Russian and Ukrainian society," said Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management. In general, Ukrainian leaders do not hide the true motive for introducing a holiday, which is far from ensuring the religious rights of citizens of the country.

КИЕВ, 25 декабря. /ТАСС/. Рождество по Григорианскому календарю впервые на государственном уровне празднуют на Украине, 25 декабря в стране объявлен официальным выходным днем. Соответствующий закон был принят депутатами Верховной рады и вступил в силу 3 декабря. При этом Рождество 7 января по Юлианскому календарю также остается государственным праздником. Действующая украинская власть мотивирует принятие закона необходимостью усилить евроинтеграционные позиции страны, а также обеспечить права католиков и протестантских конфессий.

Разрыв цивилизационных связей с Россией
Многие украинцы усматривают исключительно политические мотивы данного закона и попытку отодвинуть на второй план единую для двух народов православную традицию. "Это попытка создать цивилизационный и гуманитарный барьер между российским и украинским обществом", - считает директор Украинского института анализа и менеджмента политики Руслан Бортник. В целом украинские лидеры и не скрывают истинного мотива введения праздника, который далек от обеспечения религиозных прав граждан страны.
