Delusional. Let's talk about this word.

Its definition is, "characterized by or holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument (typically as a symptom of mental disorder)"

I've been called delusional several times throughout my life. Usually whilst in the throws of a serious manic episode.

After mania, I attempted to reconcile my spiritual experiences from a rational, reality based vantage point.

Here's what I discovered:

I cannot believe in the world of chi, energetic beings and supernatural abilities without it being classified as a delusion.

I'm going to be blunt:

With some exception, we are all delusional.

If you believe in God, you are delusional.

If you believe in love, you are delusional. There is no rational evidence that love is anything more than a chemical reaction in our brains.

If you believe in anything beyond what is directly observed by our core senses, you are delusional.

Sucks to be called delusional, huh?

So, if we are all delusional, why call someone else delusional?

Because their delusions don't match up with yours.

Delusional. It's a word that is used to discredit, demean and dismiss people with opposing viewpoints.

The only defense against this word is to embrace it.

I am delusional.

I believe in things that run contrary to our present notion of reality.

I believe in things for which there is no rational argument to support.

I believe in the Tao, chi, energetic abilities and so much more.

If I must be labeled as delusional, I shall own it fully.
