Memes Overview
I love memes and watching memes on YouTube, but I did not know the first thing about how they work so well on me or how to create one. I will admit it, it is one of my greatest shames... So that is why I took a free class on Udemy to learn about how memes work. The class is called 'Memes 101' and it is taught by a professional comedian and social media personality named Linda Landeros. Through this class, I was able to get an overview on memes and how they work. Now that I am a basic scholar in the art of dumb internet in-jokes, I believe it was a good idea to make my first post on steemit a way to share this fun knowledge with others. So, join me in this article if you wish to learn about internet memes and understand why they are so funny to people...
Memes, in an internet culture sense, are a cultural item that is created in the form of an image, video, or phrase. These items spread over the internet, usually through social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and others. The work memes comes from the Greek word 'Mimema', a word that means imitated in English. Most simple memes are made of two components, an image and text. According to Ms. Landeros, a joke is made of a setup and a punchline, so memes basically use images as a setup and the text describing the image as a punchline.
Some tips for creating memes: You should try not to repeat words and use the funniest word/phrase last. There are two types of memes:
Organic memes: original memes that are created as an observation from yourself.
Game memes: Your own version of a trending/popular meme.

You can also use photo editing software like Photoshop or PicsArt. After using these programs to create a proper meme, you can share it here on steemit or other places for the world to see...
