RE: MORE Beautiful Taxation is Theft Memes

in #meme7 years ago

In my view, whether or not taxation is "legal" is inconsequential. The important question is whether it is immoral. And my answer to that would be: Yes. Any forced removal of a peaceful person's property is immoral, regardless of whether it is done by an individual or by the state.

I see your point. But let's examine this from another point of view. The country needs highways, schools, hospitals many other things which are paid by our taxes, right? How should the government finance all of these without taxes?

Excellent question! I actually don't think there should be a government at all, since everything a government does is achieved through force and coercion, and all it "funds" is paid for by stolen property (taxes). If a government were to find and implement a way to finance highways, schools, etc. without force and taxation, then it would cease to be a government.

To restate the question from a slightly different perspective: The country needs highways, schools, hospitals, and many other things which are currently paid for by taxes. How could those things be provided voluntarily, without the use of force and theft?

Well, there are many ways these things could be provided by the market. There are already private schools and private hospitals. Why not private highways? They might charge a toll to users, or they might be funded by groups of businesses that want customers to come visit them from outlying districts. They might even partially fund themselves through billboard advertisement sales. Roads within communities could be maintained by the communities. Or! If the government was no longer there to regulate emerging technologies, we might have passenger drones and not need roads as much as we currently do. There could also be community schools, where local parents voluntarily chip in to maintain a facility and hire teachers. Other children might be homeschooled or learn in apprenticeships or even online. There would most certainly be charity schools...many of these options are prevented from becoming a reality because they are either "against the law" in certain jurisdictions, or they are outcompeted by the rigged, tax funded system. Any human necessity can be provided without theft.
