Curating the Philosophy of Freedom

in #meetups8 years ago (edited)

Liberty on the Rocks provides a real life meeting place to discuss many of the popular alternative view points found here on Steem. By advocating for free markets and entrepreneurship the organization seeks to increase the size and effectiveness of the global liberty movement. LOTR chapters welcome those who want to share opportunities to grow the free market, similar to Steemit. LOTR's devotion to entrepreneurial start-ups makes it the perfect opportunity to educate about Steem!

Denver Liberty on the Rocks is the organization's original chapter. Co-Founder and close friend of mine, Justin Longo created the organization eight years ago as a drinking club with a liberty slant. Today, LOTR spans seven countries with over forty-five chapters. We invite speakers bi-monthly to present and provide Q&A on a wide spectrum of topics, ranging from Bitcoin 101 to debate over intellectual property. We’ve discussed the failures of the criminal justice system, the death penalty and speculated about free will. Many of the people who attend are already familiar with and using cryptocurrency. These conversations have provided me seemingly endless value that reaches into all corners of my life, a phenomenon that happened again when I discovered Steemit. LOTR meet-ups are a golden opportunity to promote Steem in your local community. It is a currently untapped market of potential Steem users excited to drink beer and curate the philosophy of freedom.

A Few of LOTR's Popular Chapters

Anyone is welcome to attend the meet-ups to learn more about the principles of economic liberty and to meet other freedom lovers in their community. We can all agree that bringing Steem to as many users as possible is vital to the life of the platform. Liberty on the Rocks is an invaluable resource to anyone looking to learn about free-thinking ideals! Find you local chapter today and join us for a drink! Help me bring Steemit into the conversation, I will see you there!

I used to host LOTR events while in graduate school. Good times!

Awesome! Which chapter did you host?

Fort Collins. Although, there was nothing ever official, I think, like signing up with the organization.

I helped start the CSU-YAL chapter and was a teacher advisor when it started until we could find a permanent staff member who would do it.

The group organized 2 very successful events (and many more others) in bringing out Ron Paul one year (crowd of ~1000) and Tom Woods another (crowd of about ~800-1000).

thanks for sharing alexandra-renee
