Hello everyone! I pushed the button, bought a meetup.com subscription and started a steemit meetup in Montreal! I'm super exciting for what it's going to become. The idea is to get to know the local steemians and to exchange ideas, network and brainstorm on how we can bring more value to steemit together.

Why Am I Doing This?
I think its about time for me to step up and take the lead to let more people know in my own province about Steemit. I've been on this website since late May and it's been a wild ride! I think I can bring perspective and knowledge to newer members who may still have questions about how to get renown on Steemit.
There is still a long way ahead of us when it comes to disrupt the social media landscape. Building local communities is the next step in getting people emotionally connected with their fellow steemians.
The release of the "follow" function definitely pushed me over the edge yesterday night. Now we have a way to build a following and create our own circle of "sponsors" or "patrons", the sky is the limit!
Since, I am a "dolphin" in the Steemocean, I now have a way to reward and encourage local blogger. I'm very excited about that.
What is the long term view
At the beginning, I want to test the water about the format. I decided to make it casual and relax. I will probably create 2 events who alternate between French and English. (One week is the English meetup and the next will be French)
But I think it could grow into something much bigger.
Conclusion
I challenge everyone on steemit, who is ready and available, to start a local meetup in their hometown. Hopefully, we can learn together how to better organize them and empower each other in spreading the word.

Why not just start a facebook event if your from montreal, use the reward you get from this post to advertise it on facebook. I can say Ill join already.

I don't think I'll be there but I could change my mind. I'm still 1 hour from MTL so that's kind of a bummer.

I'd love to have a Steemit meetup in Nova Scotia, but since I know only one other Crypto enthusiast in the whole province, it's gonna be small, lol. Best of luck.
kind of have something like this already. busy helping out my friends which really need it. And they helping others out. I must say that when you have shown a person how to use steemit they don't do "stupid" newbie things on steemit and can contribute a lot better to the community
