The Wonderful World of Meditation Pt. 3 "This is personal"
Hey Friends
Welcome back to the Wonderful World of Meditation!
If this is your first time reading my meditation posts I'd like to point you towards my other two previous posts here and here. You don't need to read those though to get something out of this post!
This three part series is all about meditation and helpful tips and benefits associated with achieving your goals and becoming a better you, and in Pt. 3 I'm going to discuss personalization of your meditation practices.
It's always a good time to balance out your mental state through meditation. It can be extremely healthy for everybody in different ways. But although the benefits of meditation are universal, everyone should personalize their meditation in their own way as to attain the most peaceful and fulfilling state. Here are a few different ways you can achieve this.
#1 Incense
There are hundreds of different types of incense that all have different properties. If you go online to this link it will take you to Amazon.com where you can check out all sorts of cool unique incense. I sorted it from low to high price, and you'll see that you can get incense for very cheap. Some are even as low as $2!
It's actually interesting that different types of incense have differing use cases and benefits. Some are specifically made to help you meditate, some to help you fall asleep, some to wake you up, and others are just great fragrances to have in your room. I recommend trying out an assortment at first to get a feel for what you like. That is of course if you haven't used it before or don't know what scents you like.
When I meditate I enjoy lavender the best. It's my personal favorite fragrance out of any. I like to use some even when I'm just chilling in my room or going to bed. Incense is one of the many things you can do to personalize your meditation process and make you feel good. Incense stimulates your sense of smell that can help with meditation.
#2 Music
Music is all around us in nature and across the world. From the melodies of birds talking to one another in the forest to bongo drums in Africa. It's one of the many things that was made to assimilate. With a multitude of different options to choose from, music provides us with another useful tool in the meditation process that is able to be personalized.
You can pick from quiet white noise, to classical jazz, to natural rain forest sounds, or really anything you can imagine...
I personally meditate with a quiet fan on as to not be in complete silence, but also have some sound. But, I've talked to many people who listen to music to meditate and find it very helpful. Find what works for you through trial and error.
I think what makes music cool is there's actually music specifically made for meditation. If you do a simple google search online you can find all sorts of different meditation music. I believe they even have apps you can download on your phone on the Apple Store or Google Play for Androids that is tailored to meditation practices.
#3 Essential Oils
If you've never heard of essential oils before then you're in the same boat as I was when I first began meditating with my ex girlfriend. She was all like "you should put this oil on your bed before meditating", and I was like "umm I don't really think that's good for the sheets...".
Surprisingly though she told me that it doesn't stain. And low and behold it actually didn't! But it's actually really nice having that smell in a little bottle you can carry around wherever you go in your pocket or bag and don't have to light anything up on fire.
You can get a diffuser as well that essentially dispenses your oils into the air as vapor. She had one of these in her room and it actually worked quite nicely with only needing a few drops of the oil each use.
But for regular use you can just put the oil anywhere: your skin, your sheets, your blanket, your pillow, etc. You can find essential oils online or usually at a candle or gift shop near you. These can be great tools as well to assist in your meditation.
#4 Stones and Crystals
Now when I say stones you're probably thinking something like this..
But what I'm really talking about are stones like these
The stones I'm talking about are much different than regular stones you might find on the side of a river. There are specific stones that people use to balance their energy and relax spiritually. I personally have a necklace made out of opalite which is a light blue stone. You can get the stones in different mediums such as a necklace, bracelet, anklet, or even just the regular stone itself that you hold or balance.
Here is a picture of Opalite
Here is some examples of stones and what they're good for:
Opalite: Harnessing personal power, strength, and improves communication on all levels
Selenite: A crystal great for healing yourself on many levels and acquiring inner peace
Moonstone: A stone used to manage your ego, combat materialism, and assist in aiding your pituitary gland and digestive system
Aventurine: Known for amplifying luck, prosperity, and abundance. It also can help speed up recovery time of illness
Agate: Raises self awareness, stabilizes the aura, transforms negative energy, and can help improve your clarity when thinking
Tourmaline: A protection stone against negative energy all around you
Rose Quartz: A love stone associated with love for others, the world, and yourself
Amethyst: Manifestation stone used to manifest your dreams
Obisidian: Called the mirror stone. Helps with sight and seeing circumstances. Also helps with awareness
This list is just a small compilation of the many different stones out there, and I encourage you to seek out new stones that aren't on this list and find ones that feel good for you.
When I saw the opalite necklace I just felt that it was right to use so I got that one. It's hand made by a woman in Colorado and I hold it very close to me at most times. Find something that's important to you.
Well that does it for this #meditation series! But to wrap up, all of these different tools can help you personalize your experience and make for a better overall meditation. Through meditation you can ultimately help yourself achieve anything your heart desires. It's all mental.
Through this series I hoped you gained some helpful tips and info that can help you or someone you know start meditating. I had fun writing these posts since I enjoy meditating alot, so I hope you enjoyed them as well:).
I'll be back again tomorrow to share a #Bitcoin and #ETH analysis with you guys and what I'm seeing.
Until then enjoy your lives and keep on being yourself. You have so much to be thankful for, and tell someone you care about that you love them and appreciate them because that will make their day. It might even make yours too:)
Happy Meditating,
-Zion
