Is it OK to lose the Jing (i.e., ejaculate) when cultivating Qi Gong or is this detrimental to practice?

The answer to the question depends on many factors, but I'll try my best to cover a few...Firstly, for women. If you are a woman, then the answer is generally that an ejaculation will not impact cultivation practice. In fact, the ecstasy and bliss is helpful for cultivating that real juicy "happy" feeling I talk about. After all, have a look at the ecstasy of Saint Teresa. What does it remind you of?st-theresa-in-ecstasy.jpg

For men, it is a different story. Firstly, I wouldn't look at it in black and white terms whether it is right vs wrong. This will only lead to worry, which is violating the "Don't Worry" principle I have set forth in my posts. Instead, be logical and use your own senses to see how your body feels after "losing the Jing". Obviously, most men wish to roll over and go to sleep like a pig after the act :) So yes, although there is a moment of ecstasy, there is also an energetic drainage that occurs. Because of this, it is advised to keep an eye on the amount of times you lose your Jing on a weekly basis. Obviously monks cannot live by this rule, but as a layman or married man it is probably the most balanced path.

Lastly, there are advanced techniques that require one not to "lose their Jing" during the practice period. If you are practicing a method like this, your master would have informed you this is the case, and it is highly advisable to follow the instructions. Otherwise, if you look at the techniques I will be providing, they are safe techniques that allow for a balanced life style - although, the loss of Jing may set you back, it does not take you back to zero, but simply means there may be less energy the following day when you practice. If practicing Kung Fu with these techniques, then try not to train so hard the next day, but save it for a different day.
