Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

in #medical5 years ago

Over the years, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) has been an issue with the youth of today. They always think that relationships are all about having sex when actually relationships with opposite partners are more to it than just sex. They move about having unsafe sexual relations with each other and end up having sexually transmitted infections.

Before I move any further, one would ask what sexually transmitted infections are? When we say sexually transmitted infections, they are infectious diseases that are spread from one person to the other mostly through sex. These infectious diseases are caused by either germs or viruses, and some common ones we do hear of are gonorrhea, and AIDS.

Sexually Transmitted Infections can lead to serious problems in both males and females if they are not noticed or treated early. Most, on the side of males they begin to experience problems with their passage of urine and can even lead to the inability of them to have their own children in the future. With our dear females, they experience lower abdominal pains that comes and goes from time to time, problems with them having their own kids and problems with their menstrual cycles.

One should note that apart from grown up males and females having these sexually transmitted infections, it can also cause effects on their unborn kids such as them being physically abnormal at birth, mental retardation, blindness, cancer or even death.

When one contact sexually transmitted infection, he/she can experience some form of discharge from his/her private part. In males, a white or creamy discharge from his private part. When such thing happens in males then it could be a sign of gonorrhea. With females, their sign is an unusual discharge from her private part with or without urination.

Many (both males and females) with sexually transmitted infections can also experience sores around their private part. Most of these sore could be signs for herpes, chancroid or syphilis.

One is to note that, males get to notice sexually transmitted infections earlier than females. A female can walk around for months without noticing she has a sexually transmitted infection. So males are always to have their female partners check up immediately they experience any form of sexually transmitted infection with them.

Catch you again in my next blog where I would be speaking about what you are to do when you have sexually transmitted infections.
