On this day, the famous Muslim Persian physician, philosopher and father of early modern medicine, Ibn Sina, died in the city of Hamadan, Iran.
He was a devout Muslim. His writings covered philosophy, geography, psychology, Islamic theology, and Sufism, logic, mathematics, physics, and poetry.

He was the first physician in the world to invent experimental medicine. His famous book, The Canon of Medicine, was considered a must-read by Ibn Sina, not only in the Muslim world, but also in medieval Europe for anyone who wanted to work in medicine. In the 18th century, European physicians read the Latin translation of this book to get an idea of medicine.
During the "Yuan Dynasty" of China in the 13th and 14th centuries, Muslims there translated the book into Chinese and tried to benefit from it. This book was a complete medical encyclopedia.
