Why Boycott Mayweather Mcgregor

in #mayweather7 years ago

It is official, the circus show known as Mayweather Vs. Mcgregor will take place August 26 in Las Vegas. This is a shame in my opinion. As a avid boxing fan, I am very disappointed that this is going to happen. UFC fans are happy that they get to see the most beloved UFC fighters of this era fight go up against one of the greatest pound for pond in boxing history.

This is sad, very sad. This is going to be another rotten egg taste in our mouths like Pacman and Mayweather. I am afraid that this will ruin boxing forever and this fight has this potential to do so. The only reason this fight is being made is because the money that is at stake. They say it can surpass the Pacman fight, and I think it might. With both UFC and boxing fans potentially watching the fight, the pockets of both sport fans will be touched.

The reason to boycott this fight is simple, I am 80% certain that the PPV will cost $100, if not more. That move alone would make me angry. The reason that a UFC fighter who has never been in a boxing ring with an opponent such as Mayweather is just a mismatch of epic proportions. Mcgregor (21-3) has blemishes in the sport that he specializes in. Mayweather (49-0) is a master at his trade. This is another reason this fight is a joke from the start.

There are many UFC fans that are saying that Mcgregor will beat Mayweather, sorry, it won't happen. Mayweather has went up against some of boxing best, Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Álvarez, Juan Manuel Márquez, Arturo Gatti, and most notably Manny Pacquiao. This alone says it all.

Don't get in the hype, because at the end, you WILL be disappointed. This might kill both sports and will only be a mockery in sports history.

I am curious, why do you think that this match will "ruin boxing forever"? In which sense? Personally I don't see this as much more than an exhibition match, some sort of experiment on cross-discipline fighting. Beyond the hype and the money involved, I would be interested in seeing how McGregor's skills translate to a boxing-only fight (not expecting him to win the bout, though).

@irime The Pacman fight almost ruined boxing back in 2015. The heavy-weight division is not what it was. The middle-weight division is the only one that has a chance to save the sport. Canelo Vs GGG on September 16 will be the fight to watch, but I think many will not tune in due to this circus show of a fight known as Mayweather vs Mcgregor. This fight will interupt the current up flow that boxing is finaly experancing in awhile, and will only make plenty doubt the sport because we know Mayweathers boxing style and the experance that Mcgregor has under his belt as a boxer is none.

This fight will ruin boxing because of the publicity and hype. Non boxing and UFC sport fans will tune in and see this as true boxing and will never want to see this sport again. The respect that Mcgregor has will be tarnished, Mayweather will walk away with another big payday. The losers of this fight is the public, we will see this as a something that should have never happened after the fact. The only way now that boxing will have a chance is if a heavy-weight like Tyson or Ali ever get in the ring.

I really feel bad for the people that think Mcgregor has a chance.
