The Log of History: 1000xLog(1) = Zero A.D. (or C.E. if you prefer)
1000xLog10(1) = 0 because 10^0 = 1. It took me some time while studying trigonometry to become convinced that mathematicians hadn't just defined whatever to the zero power as one because it had been so convenient. I don't know who eventually figured it out, but it was a clever observation.
So, what happened in the year zero A.D.?
Well, there wasn't one, as far as I can tell. The years seem to skip from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D.
But if I'm going to do one of these each day for a while, I have to pick something to have happened in zero A.D., so I'll pick Jesus' birth. It's as accurate as any other estimate, I suppose.
The Log of History so far:
1000xLog(1) = 0 Jesus' Birth.
