RE: Infinite isn't a number!

in #math6 years ago

In a "standard" math yes, infinity is not a number. Nevertheless, your equations do not prove that. You can perform the same tricks with zero instead of infinity. Just replace ∞ with 0, and you can follow the same reasoning, Still zero is a number.

But sometimes it is useful to treat infinity as a number. There is nothing wrong with it. You just need to carefully define and follow the rules of its usage. And you are right, not all infinities are equal to each other.

Oof i googled it and no,you can't multiply the equation by zero. Maybe someone in the future will change this rule to include infinity, but for now...

Infinite isn't a number!

P.s. i overexaggerated it,ofc you can use infinite as a number! My post was intended to correct people saying that it is a 100% legit Real number

you can't multiply the equation by zero

The same way you can't multiply them by infinity.

Nobody said that, i just abused the rule ;P
If you consider infinite as a R number, it would be a legit thing. But it isn't...
Infinite could be a hyper real number.
Surely it isn't a real numer tho!
