Shahid Minar Honours Bengali Language Movement Martyrs. It is a beautiful Monument.
Central Shaheed Minar (Martyrs Monument)
This historical monument is situated beside Dhaka University, in front of Dhaka Medical College and near to Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). This great monument was built in honor of remembrance of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives to establish our mother language Bangla as one of the state language of the then Pakistan in 1952 during Language Movement. It's the symbol of loss for mother tongue. In fact, it was the initiation to our war of liberation.
