Do you know how marriages are accomplished in Nepal? This is how my brothers marriage happened to be successful.
In Nepal you can find various cultural diversity as the society varies in different caste . Every caste has their own ethics, morals, language, costume, beliefs, rituals and festivals. Today, I am going to talk about marriage ceremony regarding with Gurung culture.
Basically, He is my brother Manoj Gurung and his lovely wife Sarita Gurung with him.
The day was started in real rush. The home has been decorated and the gate was prepared with specific natural plants and their parts such as: whole banana tree, bamboo, steam and leaves of plant known as 'Sami'.
"Hero of the day" the groom got himself well dressed, ready and the colleagues and relatives were gathered to join "janti", the group of people who we're supposed to go with groom to bride's home to take her back with groom. All the gifts or an offerings , which we called as "sagoons" were packed in local carriages known as "soli" to be carried by beautiful young unmarried gurung ladies.
Elders and relatives offered "tika" and " khada" to groom and wished him a luck too. Eventually we were all set to head for bride's home with local band which we called it a " naumati panchhe baajaa".
As we reached at bride's home, people frome the bride side welcomed us and offered us a meal.
And then groom and bride were placed altogether to tika or offerings and blessings from their relatives.
Meanwhile celebration went on by dancing on local "jhyaure" song and the catchy beats of "Madal".
Finally, all the ritual and procedures has been completed then we were allowed to take bride with groom.
