3 FACTORS THAT CAN HELP BUILD YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Finding the right person with whom you want to settle can no longer be the most difficult part of a relationship. Making that relationship last is the challenge. Most relationships end up in separation and divorce. Of course, like every person, every couple is unique, however, there are always a few factors that can help build your relationship.

Communication: Communication is one of the anchors of relationships. We must be able to trust and be free to say what we think and what we feel about the other person. Speaking openly and honestly allows you to get to know each other better and grow together. It is not easy for a couple to walk side by side for a long time; what initially attracts two people (physical attraction, common interests, personality) often ceases to be the focal point of the relationship in the future. It is necessary the constant knowledge of the other so that the connection between the two becomes stronger and does not weaken. Only in this way do they perceive the differences of objectives, priorities and expectations that each has for the relationship and only then can these issues be debated and resolved. The fearsome discussions are also part of the communication. Although they are not pleasant, they are necessary for the balance of a relationship. All couples have problems and disagreements, admitting it does not make the relationship less good. Studies have shown that avoidance of discussion and subjects that are of concern to the person is more harmful than the discussion itself. Sweeping things under the carpet is no solution. Also contempt, as opposed to respect, is often expressed through negative judgments, criticism or sarcasm about the worth of an individual. Bad communication or even the non-existence of communication, results as a poison in the relationship, destroying the balance and trust of a relationship.

Trust: Trust is the basis of any relationship, be it loving or not. Therefore, the lack of this element in a relationship will only create instability and insecurity.

Izabeel (2016) explains:

Trust and love go hand in hand in a relationship. Though most of us think that love is the most important element that keeps a relationship healthy, the truth is that trust is as important as love in a relationship. In fact, love can exist only when you feel that the person is trustworthy.
Trust should always be mutual in a relationship. It’s very important to trust your partner and to be trusted in return. In fact, trust is what keeps a relationship away from complications. In spite of differences and arguments, trust assures you that your partner loves you. This feeling of trust that you share mutually is what makes the relationship last for long.
However, confidence issues like lies and betrayals can definitely end up any relationship because trust has been broken and will hardly be won in full. No one can stand being always being suspicious of the partner. We must therefore try as much as possible not to betray the trust of our partner on which the relationship is built.

Individuality: Trying to make your spouse behave and act the way you do is nothing but selfishness. You can build your partner to your taste but don’t bend him/er to be like you as everybody irrespective of their relationship has their individual’s differences – likes and dislikes, dos and don’ts, merits and demerits, strengths and weaknesses. Not recognizing these can destroy your marriage. Respect your individuality and assume your faults. The reality of coexistence brings the good and not so good sides of each to a life of two, and in order to function, it is necessary for both to invest time, dedication, patience and faith to succeed, as well as persistence and commitment
It is fundamental to create a space for privacy even to give place to homesickness and the development of the relationship. And importantly, remember that as mentioned at the beginning of the article, most relationships end up in separation, so if this happens you will not want to be alone and without friends just because you did not feed those links during the time of the relationship.
