The Importance of Vulnerability
The topic of today's lesson for me from the universe was "The Importance of Vulnerability."
Yeah, I know you are sayin that's the very thing you work to protect yourself against; vulnerability, right? Hang on, I'll tell the story.
So, we are driving along the route from NOLA home and stopping to see my AFTCO customers along the way. We saw several of my long time customers and a few prospects. As we rolled along, I thought about the relationships I now have with those long time customers and that relationship I was working to build with the prospective ones. - every one in the sales game knows that it is all about the relationships.
In the stretch home with no customers to see, we tuned into a random TED talk. The topic was, "The Importance of Vulnerability." Guess what? It was all about how we must reveal our vulnerabilities to build relationships!
In only a few miles, I realized that was certainly true for those really close relationships we have with spouses, mates and children. And, I saw how this is even true in building business!
We all know the adage that we must be open to receive a blessing. Yes, that means we must remain vulnerable, open up our selves to the others and reveal our true selves to build those relationships. The prize: A genuine blessing!

Hi @michaelglass, showing your real self vulnerabilities and all are conducive to close personal relationships. But, I suppose it is a very different vulnerability one reveals in business type of relationships.
yeah, I've thought about this a lot. Is there really a difference in how we relate to and build relationships with our customers than there is to those we call our friends? How you do one thing is a pretty good indication of how you will do another, right? So goes the way we treat our fiends/customers.
That's the way I see it anyway.
