Regular Tasks For Affiliate Marketers
Occasionally on the blog over at: https://www.themoneylifejuggle.com/blog we look at different businesses and different ways of generating an income.
I wrote a little mini series dedicated to affiliate marketing, the original post can be found here: https://www.themoneylifejuggle.com/blog/regular-tasks-for-affiliate-marketers
Affiliate marketing can be very lucrative and passive once the hard work is done, however; i advise building your affiliate marketing efforts on the side of a main income - perhaps one day your affiliate income could be enough to support your lifestyle but ensure that in the beginning you have an alternative income. Profits are usually slow and small in the beginning.
Now lets look at some regular tasks for affiliate marketers:
One of the key elements to being a successful affiliate marketer is consistency. To many affiliate marketers just plod along through their day not really getting much accomplished. They think they can slap up a link and BOOM, hello commissions. I mean, at its core, I suppose that is what affiliate marketing is. You make an affiliate link and someone buys through that link and your commissions come rolling in. Simple, right? Well not really. There is a lot more to it but one thing is certain: you need to be consistent and strategic with what you do. Here are some daily tasks you can accomplish to help reach your goals, remember some of these can be completed with a few minutes per day; you can invest as much time into each section as possible.
-Consistent Social Media Engagement.
Unfortunately for us all, in this day and age, social media is without a doubt going to be one of the main ways you get traffic to your site or your affiliate links. With that being said, regular social media engagement is a necessity. Now you can outsource this or use certain tools, such as Hootsuite or Buffer to automate and schedule your posts but remember, people like to build genuine relationships and see personality. Being a robot just re-posting stuff on Facebook isn’t going to see the best results.
You have to be careful not to get sucked into social media. Yes, spare a few minutes a day generating some useful posts but don’t over commit to it. The goal is to provide shareable content or content that your viewers are going to engage with and be interested in.
Number one thing to remember here: DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO BROWSING. Constantly refreshing your homepage and becoming that bent necked, glassy eyed IPhone zombie is not going to add value to your life.
-Adding Content To Your Site Or Channel
Whatever outlet you are using: Website, Youtube, Blogs etc. you need to keep a good stream of content. You should be adding some content to your channels on a daily basis. This can be something simple like a little blog post, a product review, short video, educational pieces, case studies and whatever else you can think of. With regards to content, there really are hundreds of things you could be doing. Of course, marketing your site is equally important as creating content, perhaps even more important.
If you have different niche websites then try creating content for them (or outsourcing it). If you have a main hub for all your content, such as a main website, then create some GOOD content for that website. You do not necessarily have to add content to your site weekly, but spread out the content creation across your channels and domains. Fresh content is really important in the first couple years. After that you can begin to slow down because once the content is created it isn’t going anywhere……unless the whole internet decided to disappear! The point is, you create something once, and it is on your site for as long as you own it.
-List building and lead generation tasks
Affiliate marketers or product creators know that the profits are in the list, which is why you should dedicate regular time to growing and nurturing your list. The goal is to increase your subscribers and grow your list. The goal is for your list growth to be targeted, or in other words, get people who are interested in your topic to sign up. You can get any random person to sign up but if they aren’t even slightly bothered about what you are promoting then they are not relevant to your affiliate marketing efforts. People are making good money with small lists, for the simple fact that their list is highly respondent.
For list building and email marketing use something like Mailchimp or Aweber.
-Read about other people’s experiences and educate yourself.
You never can read too much. There is beauty in learning from other people. Find mentors and educate yourself by taking advice from those who are already accomplishing what you want to accomplish in life. Whatever goal you are setting, you can be sure someone has already reached that goal. I personally like to read a wide range of things, from marketing techniques, success stories, income reports, forums and best-selling business books. The list is endless. Find what it is you wish to know about and go digest as much information as you can.
-Do Guests Posts.
Another task which you should be considering making a regular occurrence is that of guest posting. Guest posting enables you to tap into other people’s traffic sources and not only provide them with a useful article but point them in the direction of your site or blog.
Guest posts and article marketing are a great way to expand your reach. Remember you can recycle your articles but present them in a different format. For example creating videos or free downloads. You need to leverage your content as much as you can.
Remember people…….baby steps. There is no easy route to being successful. You need to accumulate little wins which eventually snowball into big wins.
Hopefully these little regular tasks will help anyone interested in affiliate marketing. We will continue with a couple more posts about affiliate marketing before moving onto another topic.
Good points! Consistency is key!
in any part of life!
