Market Friday - Ietz Nietz Home Industries
Fancy having a tiny little store brimful with all things home-made, from eats to crafts, conveniently situated inside your local shopping mall?
We are fortunate to have little home industries scattered around South Africa where local stay at home ladies get the opportunity to run a business from home at very little cost. Shopping space is rented in prime positions, many of these little cottage industries used to operate as co-ops, not sure how it is done today.
Beautiful wall mural painted by a young lady takes pride of place in our local home industries called Ietz Nietz (Something New).
Make no mistake, these ladies work really hard - getting up at midnight to start baking for the next day. Often the family get roped in to help with packing or delivering of goods for early morning shoppers.
Each baker gets a number, and I know which numbers are my favourite bakers, so I always look out for those cakes - my favourite is Carrot & Pineapple Cake and a delectable Passion Fruit Sponge Cake.
From biscuits to cakes to tarts to savouries and even homemade candy - you will always find something to your taste, even when the shelves are a little bare as it was a little late in the day!
Tell me which of these you fancy?
Chocolate character lollies.
Biscuits and other sweet treats are packaged real nice and taste so much better than the mass produced variety one finds on the supermarket shelves!
It's not only the bakers who offer goods at Ietz Nietz; all the crafty ladies sell the most wonderful and useful crafts here.
I always find something different when looking for a gift and will let the photos do the talking.
Some Candle holders leftover from an order made especially for Carols by Candlelight.
The prettiest bunches of fresh flowers are also sold here.
And last but not least, the shop entrance.
A big thank you to Estelle & Johan for allowing me to take photos of their shop; Ietz Nietz has become the place to go when there's a party coming up!
I'm a home baker but often end up buying a cake here for a special occasion.
Thank you to @dswigle for initiating #marketfriday!

Yes I could never do this for a living, it's hard work indeed! Appreciate your comments my friend.
These little home bake stores are supported and loved here in South Africa, we have one in our local mall.
