Steemit’s unique market function on news.

Hello, I am a new user at steemit, but as i have been using Steemit a thought dawned on me that it does have a impact on news that propagates here. The mechanism in particular is that false news get’s punished with downvotes making it less attractive and interesting/more true news get’s supported with upvotes. Since this upvoting is community driven there is almost a bit of self regulation as lying doesn’t benefit the post. Since steemit is contingent on the upvote feature in order to gain coins going viral while beneficial is unlikely to gain you a following as effectively as telling interesting stories.

One of the clearest examples about this is the dominance of media within platforms such as facebook, twitter etc. All of them rely on people reading articles to make money it doesn't matter the truth or substance factor. On steemit however there is a good reason to as since the amount of steemit is limited gaining a solid following or even having occasionally trending posts can work very well. Media on other platforms however does not meet that same limitation as all that matters is getting views NOT whether it is liked or disliked. Getting liked or disliked has a impact, but it is much more pronounced on steemit where just simply viewing isn't enough the reader needs a reason to upvote your post. This is likely to end up in a much more positive environment where quality dictates how much you can garner compared to platforms like facebook and other social media it comes from views. It is also a simple, but good way of quality control as spam articles and posts are pretty unlikely to make it that far while quality posts will get upvoted.

This is a subtle, but interesting difference I think that is going to help keep steam going as people have a reason to read the article based on substance before they give a like and the poster get's money. This is also the best feature about this platform is the fact that it is community driven and toxicity get's you nowhere. Always remember being civil with the people around on the platform is probably going to be more beneficial than flaming or lying. First post, but I figured it would be interesting to compare them on this aspect as it is subtle, but massive for steemit to me. Hope yall enjoy it.
