Father Marino Rigon was born on February 5, 1925 in the village of Villaverla, near Venice, Italy. In 1953, he came to Bangladesh for the promotion of Christianity. He lived in Haldibunia village of Mongla upazila of Bagerhat for a long time.

Crossing the boundaries of religion, Bangladesh has played an important role in the development of poverty alleviation, promotion of education, medical services and the development of distressed women. During the War of Liberation in 1971, he took part in the liberation war through providing shelter and service to the sick and wounded freedom fighters. The government of Bangladesh gave him honorary citizenship in 2009.

After studying Bangla art literature, it was translated into Italian by Father Marino Rigon. Apart from Gitanjali, 40 songs of Rabindranath Tagore, 350 songs from Lalon Sai, Naksikkanth of Jasim Udayin and Sojan Badar Ghat, many poems of important poets of this country have been translated into Italian by his hands.

Many books of RabindraKavya, translated into Italian by Father Rigon, are translated into French, Spanish and Parthagij. In 1990, he established the Rabindra Studies Center in Italy.
Father Rigon also highlighted the nakshinikanth of Bengal in various cities of Italy. Four exhibitions of Nakshi Kantha, produced by the Shellabuniya Sewing Center, are in different cities in Italy.

There is a large part of Father Rigon's workforce in which educational activities are involved. In its direct participation, 17 educational institutions were established in southern Bangladesh. He also arranged for scholarships for those under privileged organizations.
In 1986, with the help of Father Rigon, a dance drama team of Bangladesh organized the stage of 'Naksikkantha' on Italy's stage.

His family members wanted to take him to Italy when he was suffering from a heart attack in 2001. Then he gave condition to his relatives that if he died in Italy, then the body should be sent to Bangladesh. The relatives of Italy complied with the conditions covered by it.

Then, in 2014, he took his family to Italy from the Catholic mission of Mongla for better treatment, Father Marino Ragnon. Even before the surgery, his last request to his relatives was, 'If I die, I will send the body to Bangladesh.'

He died on October 20, 2017, at the age of 93 in the village of Villa Villavarla, Italy. According to the last wish, the body of Father Marino Rigon was brought to Mongla after one year of his death.
