My time in Australia while in the Marines!!!
While I was still in the Marine I had to opportunity to go to Australia and do some training. We got to see the milky way in the sky at night! Had a great time being swarmed by flies 24/7. Snakes everywhere, spiders everywhere, ants everywhere!
Ill go into a little story why we went to Australia. In the Marines I was a Bulk Fueler, which is someone who sets up and maintains fuel farms for either Air or Ground units. While In Aus. we were to set up a Fuel farm for the Air side.
So this picture is the "landing strip"
We were charged to have this site up in 72 hours... EASY! We had it up in about 4 hours... They truly underestimated our build time of this farm! Well other than that this was the best time of my life. I have so many pictures to show!
This picture just reminds me of Apocalypse Now, but just training!
We were invited out to the Demolition Range to help set up bombs! This was a most MURCIA day for sure!
Here are a few pictures of the site and some birds coming in for fuel!
When these CH-53 would land it would pick up so much dust...
This bird was fun to watch come in and land and take off!
More red dust!
Good ol C-130!!!
Here is a 50,000 gallon fuel bladder we had max 40,000 gallons! The green machine is the 600 gallon per minute pump!
Here we are getting our Jet A1 fuel, over $1 million was spent on fuel for this training event!!!
Another view of the bladder.
Also had some 3,000 gallon bladders and some 500 gallon bladders. The 500 gallon ones are the black looking circle things!
When we had no scheduled flights we did four things! Play Spades, Play football with the Australian Defence Force, Play build 5000 sand bags, and watch movies at night!
Playing American Football with them was funny to watch! They thought we were playing rugby...
Finally just some random pictures I took!
This is my buddy getting promoted up to a E-4 NCO Corporal.
At this picture I will say this is the last one! Anyways if you read all of this thank you! It feels good to share something with someone! The guy on the right felt it was necessary to slam my head on the ground while we were learning our Martial Arts... Thanks!
