Strain: Charge 504
Alright, I just got kicked in the head with this new hybrid strain I tried called "Charge 504". This is on Canndescent's line of
numbered strains meant to lead the marijuana industry into a more standardized place. Let me tell you, this stuff was anything but standard. Some truly heavy stuff. I give it 3/5 buds at the moment but, that could change given the circumstances.
The truth is, last night's experience was one of the worst #Rundance's in the history of #Rundance (which is only about two months old). A few good things came of it though, a set of rules I establised and must stick to.
GO EARLY - First, I started on the wrong foot and left at about nine-thirty at night. This already means that I'm going to be in a heavy state of mind when I go to sleep and even heavier when I wake up. Bad move. Don't do a late night run with a baked potato for a head. To most of you that rule goes without say but, for me, it takes me a few times to grok.
CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR INTAKE - I, stupidly, decided to switch up my strain last night for a quick few hits of this Canndescent strain "Charge 504". This thing is supposed to work for your workout. I was excited to try it and see how it would work. Thing is, I usually smoke from a pipe and I happened to have a pre-roll of this stuff. So I went ahead and smoked half of the pre-roll then went out. Let me tell you, I was a heavy mess. Everything seemed to going wrong. Cars on the road, equipment not working. When I got home I could barely say or do anything. I had to go straight to bed. The stuff was just way too heavy and I had smoked too much. Again, another rule that goes without saying.
PRACTICE WITH YOUR GEAR BEFORE YOU USE IT - This one was a complete and utter failure. A few days ago I went out and bought myself some new running clothes and one of those arm bands for your phone. All well and good. The running clothes were nice, kept me warm in the beginning and cool at the end but, this arm band thing just derailed the whole experience. I was running like an idiot, trying to force my phone into this arm band thing just as I'm about to hit the pavement. I wasn't prepared which meant I was trying to do all this rigamarole in flight, (while running). Very difficult to say the least. When I finally figured the whole contraption out, I felt like I was Tom Cruise, suspended above a floor trying to dismantle something incredibly complex. A sobering experience.
This also ties into another new practice I tried, this time around. Video. I borrowed my girlfriend's phone and tried to take video of myself running down the street like a crazy person. Unfortunately, when I tried to open her phone, there was a password on it. The password was her birthday. You try remembering your girlfriend's birthday while you're loaded on some new number, running in the middle of the street and dancing. It took me a minute but, finally I got some footage. Unfortunately, I wont be able to post it because I can't remember my girlfriend's birthday to recover the footage. This whole thing put a damper on the experience and for that reason it's best to know your gear.
- Trying out a new #playlist. I was experimenting with another one with some more ethereal tracks. Here's the initial five songs that I built off of:
Finding My Way Home by Far Caspian. A song I Shazzamed off a listening of NPR. I knew instantly this would land somewhere in a #playlist. In fact, this is the one that inspired this new one.
Nobody by Mitski. Recommended to me by Apple Music. Oh Apple music, so useful. Mitski has been on my peripherals since college when she was performing at the student center at Purchase.
Kingdom (feat. North Downs) by Maribou State. This one I'm not sure where it came from but, I know it's not gonna stick.
Drip by The Marias & Triathalon. This one came out of another Indie Apple playlist. It's good but, it kind of blends into the background after awhile. I'll end up losing it most likely.
Silver by Caribou. This one is a bit of an ear worm that crawled into my brain. I oscillate between keeping it or dumping it but, I think it's good enough to keep for a little while.
The more I listened to these songs, the more I felt a kind of "cool" vibe going on and when I think of cool in Los Angeles I think of the opening song to the Netflix show Bojack Horseman. I can't even describe the coolness of the opening song...saxaphones, wa-wa FX all sorts of cool stuff. I felt it would be a great way to introduce this new #Rundance #playlist. I took a few more songs from that soundtrack. In fact, I was so excited by the idea of creating a #rundance #playlist around Bojack that I renamed the thing #Rundance Bojack!
Here's the final:
- BoJack's Theme by Patrick Carney
- Nobody by Mitski
- Finding My Way Home by Far Caspian
- Kingdom by Maribou State
- Drip by The Marias & Triathalon
- Silver by Caribou
- Seaport by Jesse Novak (Part of the BoJack theme)
- Canopée by Polo & Pan
- Venus Flytrap by Feng Suave (Probably going)
- Nana by Polo & Pan
I gave it a try.
I didn't get very far on this round. Too many things went wrong as I described earlier and I definitely will be sticking to a more familiar strain next time. More updates to come, to see how this #rundance #playlist will change.
As always, if you have any suggestions or stories from your own #Rundance, share theme here!
