Man United Facing Competition For ‘Next Vidic’
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has certainly found himself struggling with defensive options since he has become manager of Manchester United but in recent months, reports have been heating up around potential reinforcements in the backline.
One player that has caught the eye of many is Schalke defender Ozan Kabak and he certainly fits the bill in terms of what Manchester United and Solskjaer are in need of. Schalke currently values the Turkish international in the region of £25million which is undoubtedly within United’s budget considering a center back is one of the club’s top priorities.
Kabak is only 20 years old and has already been dubbed the ‘next Vidic’ coming in at 6ft 1in, having the great physical ability and good pace in recovery. Everything that Nemanja Vidic excelled at.
Manchester United are facing competition for Kabak from Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Liverpool, and RB Leipzig.
Kabak has made 9 appearances for Schalke this season while averaging one tackle and 3.6 clearances per game, according to WhoScored.
Stuggart’s sporting director Thomas Hitzlsperger has spoken very highly of the center back and said:
“It’s incredible how worldly-wise he is for his age. It’s astonishing. I see him every day and am amazed at how mature he is. He wants to know everything; he wants to learn German right away and understand everything. That’s the kind of attitude we need. He’s already a role model, despite his age.”
