The Dog House Update
A month ago I posted about how me and my best pal where building a man cave that we like to call The Dog House.

Here is the latest update on our progress
Moving in
After installing insulation to the inner walls the funds ran low so the job was on hold until we had some spare cash. Once we did though we ordered the tongue and grove letting for the inner walls. What we got was plain in one side and groves on the other so we decided to do one wall with the plain side in so that we can wall paper that in future.
It was a tedious job and with the mix of the current warm weather and the fact we insulted the man cave, it was safe to say we were warm.
Then we hit a problem...
Windows and doors
Before we could add the wood to the front wall, we had to think about installing windows first. This was going to be a big cost (or at least we thought) until we took a trip to an industrial estate which had a conservatory business there and close by they have an area where they throw out there unsalable windows and doors. In amongst the broken frames and packaging waste where 4 double glazing windows. They was 2 of one kind a 2 of another and because we only wanted then to sit in the wall, all we had to do is take of the fixtures.
So we loaded up the car and it was this point I said “wait!”
I always like to take one last look so I am sure we don’t miss anything and in this instance I’m so glad I did. Cos at the back was a great looking door and I dug it out called my mate over.
“we have a door!” He replied
This is true but it needed glass and what’s better is there was two matching doors there that go together with the key still in the lock.
It was a no brainier. We had to take them doors too.
Tearing Down The Wall
Once we got the free windows and doors home it was time to install them but we had already left a space for the windows and these windows and doors would not fit. So we had to cut into the walls and re frame the correct size for the windows.
The doors where easier as they was only a minor adjustment needed so we ripped out the old door and installed the new.
Once all the windows and doors where fitted, it was time to dress up the front to make it look tidy.
We started by patching up around the windows but once we painted it, I decided that it looked messy. So using some of the spare we had left from the inner walls I nailed a frame around the doors and windows.
This is where the update ends for now and hopefully we will be looking and building the bar next
More updates soon
