My mother-in-law's birthday is in a few weeks and she loves peacocks. I found this metal wall piece at a thrift store for a dollar. However, it isn't a statement piece. And I really wanted to give her a gift that was a little more exciting. So I found a few craft supplies that were in the same color in my art closet and decided to add to it.

To start, I created a "tail" by wrapping a glitter feather through a central hole in the bottom metal filigree.

I then added the purple tassel slipping it in the same central hole and securing it in the back.

After that I made a bow to cover up my stems and add a focal point. There are several ways to make bows. Wanting a little overkill (my mother-in-law likes bling) I went with a simple figure-eight bow.

I made four loops and twisted metal wire around the middle to hold it in place.

To finish off the bow, I centralized the design (in this case an eye of a peacock feather) and fastened it in the back by twisting the wire I used for the loops around it.

After clipping the ribbon ends, I threaded the bow through the same holes in the filigree with the wire I used on the ribbon and twisted it in the back around the feather and tassel.

Now for the fun part. GLITTER!

Because I didn't want a mess, I used a glitter glue pen. It just took a few lines to highlight a few feathers in the peacock.

But I wanted to give the design more color, so I opted to paint the entire chair with the glitter pen.

And 15 minute from the time I started, I was done. Quick and easy!

All pieces have wire in them so they can be lightly rearranged as needed.

I hope this inspires you to makeover wall art too!
