Australian Native Orchids #1. Magical Moments. Nature's Beauty. Beautiful Day. Color Challenge. Sunday Purple. Original Photography.

Long before the calendar.
Freesias and pink blossoms. Told us it was Spring.
September's child is now awakening to the pulse of this beauty.
~Ally.

I awaken. I draw my curtains to look out upon the day. It doesn't really matter if it's raining, cloudy or sunny, I can't help but feel so grateful for being given such a Beautiful Day. One that is bound to bring me so many Magical Moments.

Yesterday as I looked out over the garden, with sunlight filtering through the still bare branches of the Crepe Myrtle and the first white blossoms of the May Bush ~ I thought of 'my' day. What would this day bring? And what could I bring to this day?

I had seen banners for the Warringah Group's Australian Native Orchid display and although I'd planned to spend the day repotting some plants in the garden, I felt the irresistible wish to visit and photograph this orchid display. And so I did.

The display was held in a large hall with natural lighting. The orchids themselves were beyond every known superlative but unfortunately, although it was a sunny day, the inside lighting was not all that conducive to high-quality photography.

That being said, I'd like to share these small white and magenta/purple Dendrobium Kingianum Lynda Australian Native Orchids with you. As part of @kalemandra's ColorChallenge for Sunday: SundayPurple.

I hope by simply looking at these exquisite white orchids with just a touch of rich magenta purple on their throats, you will feel a deepening sense of peace and beauty, both within and without you.

Thanks so much Maya. It's wonderful to be able to share some of our wildflowers with you.

There are many different orchids that are indigenous to Australia. We start to see them in the bushland this time of the year ~ Our Spring. I have this species of orchid in my own garden: Only it's pink. 🦋

You write wonderfully, your writing has the touch of a petal and brings us peace and melancholy. And your photos are excellent! So sharp! Congrats my dear!

I've always wanted my art to be able to transmit healing and uplifting energy. And if my writing can start to do that for you ~ I'm feeling really touched ~ And encouraged. Thanks so much Isabel. 🦋

You bet! It's amazing how words can make us feel! Cheers to you, Alison!

Such delicate exquisite blooms... I can imagine a beautiful scent from them? Happy Wednesday, my friend! 🎕

They smell like sweet honey ;)

As always your posts are beautiful and so original. Lovely. resteemed

Thanks so much. You would have loved this native orchid display @sunscape.

I took a lot of photographs but most are not crystal clear and the backdrops: Award and name tags, made it quite challenging to compose. But for all of that, some images are still quite interesting. I liked the blurred tans and blacks in this set. Lots of twisty out-of-focus tendrils still to come. Really appreciate the resteem too. 🦋

Can't wait to see more as they are so beautiful.

Some clusters of yellow Sydney Rock Orchids are on the agenda for today's WednesdayYellow @sunscape. Also preparing a post detailing the full variety of orchids. 🦋

Awesome! Love the orchids, you are so inspiring, have a great day.

so beautiful orchids! Fantastic!

It was such a beautiful display of orchids Silvia. Predominantly Sydney Rock Orchids, which have large long stems covered in medium sized orchids. But then I started to see the smaller orchids like these ones ~ Also called 'Rock Orchids' which come in a variety of colors: bright magenta pink to pale pink. But these white ones are SO special. 🦋

MAGICAL moments orchids.png

You're right, the white ones are very special ^_^

There were other white beauties too. One that I still wish to share with 'Sunday Scent Experience' had the most intoxicating perfume. 🦋

You have orchids native to Australia? For some reason, I never put the country and orchids together in my mind. Pure ignorance!

Lots of them Marianne. Many so tiny that unless you know what you're looking for, you don't see them. Lots of varieties: Duck orchids, spider orchids, sun orchids.

Most of the orchids in this display although native to Oz, would have been cultivated and protected in glass houses. But I have the pink variety of Dendrobium Kingianum growing outdoors in my own garden and it's really hardy.

I have a kit 'glass house' but it's still in pieces, waiting to be assembled. After seeing this display I'm inspired to have it set up ASAP. 🦋

They are beautiful! If on your walks, you ever see those tiny invisible native orchids, please take a picture and share!!! Are you trying to cultivate local orchids in your glass house?

I most certainly will Marianne. I have a few favourite places that are very close by, where possibly the sun orchids are coming out at the moment. They're blue in colour and ultra beautiful.

For the last year, every few weeks, I've been buying little potted orchids at our organic farmers market. So I already have a small collection of non-natives. The ones I bought last year haven't flowered again though ~ So I have a lot to learn.

Yes, I'll mainly cultivate local orchids. It's illegal to take them from the bush and even if it wasn't, it wouldn't feel right. But the people who organized the show meet once a month and I'll start going to their meetings and learn, learn, learn. 🦋

Good for you! I am looking forward to pictures of the blue ones. Orchids are too fussy for me to want to grow them and most of them are not edible. I would love to grow the vanilla orchid, but again, you have to work too hard to keep them alive :)

Your work is beautiful you deserve more upvotes i swear. Resteemed

Unfortunately, the clarity of these images is not all I would wish for @ewuoso. But I'm really happy that you can see how beautiful these orchids were though.

It's nice to receive upvotes as an indication of appreciation ~ It's true. But I appreciate comments even more so.

Thanks so much for the resteem. 🦋

You are welcome dear. I see you have great passion for what you do. Its nice.

Yes. I feel life would be dull and devoid of meaning without having something that one is really passionate about. The love for what you do, no matter what it is, connects you to 'Life.'

I love creativity in its broadest sense ~ And then on a smaller scale I love the work I do with assemblage and photography. I have the feeling my main 'passion' though is drawing, but it's taking a while to really get back into it. 🦋

Try to get back to it
