La familia genoveses es una de las "Cinco Familias" que dominan las actividades del crimen organizado en la ciudad de Nueva York como parte de la Mafia (o La Cosa Nostra). La familia genovesa del crimen ha sido apodada la "Ivy League" y "Rolls Royce" del crimen organizado. Ellos rivalizan en tamaño sólo por la familia del crimen Gambino y son inigualables en términos de poder. Generalmente han mantenido un grado variable de influencia sobre muchas de las familias mob más pequeñas fuera de Nueva York, incluyendo vínculos con las familias del crimen de Filadelfia, Patriarca y Buffalo.
La familia genovesa es la más grande de las "Cinco Familias". Encontrar nuevas maneras de ganar dinero en el siglo 21, la familia Genovese aprovechó la diligencia debida laxa por parte de los bancos durante el pico de la vivienda con una ola de fraudes hipotecarios.
