🐞 TWO BUGS, ONE BRANCH 🐞
This is a shield bug. Also known as a "stink bug" because as a defence, the spray predators with a foul smelling liquid.
It is wandering backwards and forth on this branch.
As long as I don't annoy it, it won't spray.
If you ever see a beetle shaped like this. Pick it up and give it a pat! I dare ya!
Hey! Theres another bug! i wonder if it will get defensive and spray...
No it won't! This other bug is actually a stink bug "nymph". It is just a younger version of the bigger one!
it's coming for a look, all tough because its older brother is there.
Baby stink bugs go through various stages of growth, this is just one of them.

Different species from these ones but you'll get the drift!
Wow that is one big looking stink bug. We have actually had a problem with stink bugs in Illinois this year (not the same species as the one you posted) so it is nice seeing the other kinds from around the world.
We used to put a couple in peoples tents when I was a good boy scout.
