Damaged Penny
Every once in a while I'll find an interesting coin in my pocket change. Today I noticed this one. The entire front of the the coin has been rubbed smooth. The parts of the penny that are normally raised have been removed by something, exposing the zinc below. There are noticeable scratches in the remaining copper as well as some pitting of the zink. I can't tell if it was intentional or not, but I have trouble thinking of an accidental way of getting a coin in this condition.
Here is a closeup of the word "LIBERTY" on the penny. The entire "L" and "I" are entirely gone and all the copper has been removed from the rest of the letters.
Here's a closeup of Mr. Lincoln's nose, mouth, and Chin. The silhouette is still clear, don't those lips look kissable?
