Restoring a 2009 macbook and giving it a new life - part 2
Here is part 2 of the restoration process for #macbook a1181 from 2009.
Here i upgraded the mac os X to El Capitan and upgraded the hard drive.
Since i already installed and configured everything, i did not want to reinstall everything from scratch on the new HDD,
so i used clone feature from the disk utility in order to copy everything from the old HDD to the new.
For that i needed to have an HDD enclosure with SATA to USB adapter, which i do have.
I plugged in the new HDD into the enclosure and connected it on the #macbook and ran restore from disk utility.
I had issues cloning the HDD while the mac os was fully booted up for some reason and i did not want to third party software for this but i managed to clone the HDD from disk utility while it's booted up from recovery.
The mac os #upgrade, clone process and hard drive #upgrade was a success. #Macbook works flawlessly and it's a capable little machine, despite the hardware and not having an SSD. I still use it and i can do all tasks i do every day - browsing, full hd video playback, programming, text/image editing and even light video editing. I edited these part videos with this macbook. Pretty satisfied how it turned up and i have more ideas and projects what to with it and also will use it for some time as my backup laptop.
I also have plenty more ideas and projects what to do with it which i plan to do in the future.
Thank you for your time...
