It was a time for me to be afraid,
To cry all nights of loneliness and fear.
I needed someone to return me faith.
But not just someone – someone dear.

And then you came into my haunted past.
I disbelieved the chance, but let it be.
I let the love, and tenderness, and lust
Come all the way from you to me.

And here I am, with open heart,
Across the sea, yet very near.
Eager to try, to live, to start…
Eager to love with no more fear.
